DFSIN Ottawa financial centre was one of the main sponsors of the third annual Scotiabank Nordic Walk for Cancer Survivorship. We have been committed to the cause three years in a row. It is a great way to reach out and give back to the community.
On Sunday, October 20th , 2013, the walk welcomed close to 500 participants and raised an impressive $121, 113 in support of Cancer Coaching at the Maplesoft Centre. We were part of the force to make many families smile, laugh and breath just a little easier. It was such an amazing event for the community even the CTV covered the story on their 6pm news program.
The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation first opened the doors to the Maplesoft Centre in 2011. Since then, over 1,500 local cancer survivors, and their friends and families have benefited from more than 30 programs and workshops that are offered.
The programs are designed to empower the participants, giving them the tools, knowledge and resources they need to improve their overall quality of life throughout the cancer journey. The programs cover a wide range of topics including fitness, nutrition, stress reduction, bereavement and many more.
These are powerful and practical programs addressing real quality of life issues that affect people with cancer.
We hope that you will join us for the Nordic Walk next October and continue your support of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.
DFSIN Ottawa is proud to have helped make a major difference in the local cancer care and determined to continue with our support to the cause.
